| Game is a meditation on the relationship between the planet's two largest energy consumers, China and the U.S.A. Whether political antagonists, as opponents in a Geo-strategic power play; or as co-operative commercial partners engaged in complex relations borne out of mutual self-interest; an underlying unity nevertheless exists between these titanic civilizations in their high levels of energy consumption.
The flags in "Game" represent the faces of nationhood. They are painted screens, like veils, beneath which the viewer perceives a common foundation of used motor oil, stained into Arches watercolor paper. Acrylic paint composes the black and white boards. |
