| Price Pyramid is a pyramid seen from a bird's eye view. It's composed of daily closing oil futures prices from 3-30-1983 to 9-06-2005,
written by hand with graphite and cemented together with a motor oil wash. Prices from 1983 start as small numbers on the outer edges of the square. They pave their way counter-clockwise
around and up the steps of the structure while increasing in size. Hence time advances to the present. As the oil futures prices arrive at this work's completion date, 9-06-2005, their numbers proceed to diminish in size toward the center, as if receding down a central funnel. After the final recorded price, all numbers-- bypassing the present toward an ever elusive future-- convert into zeros. In so doing, these zeros create the capstone of the pyramid. |
